Art
     Open Studio, Workshops, Discussion

The main focus of this retreat is for the artist to draw inspiration from their surrounding environment and to communicate it visually. Upon arrival, artists are asked to create a focus or theme to guide a body of work into creation. Artists may be influenced by particular patterns or textures found in the jungle to drive a body of work. An artist may also be influenced by a particular experience or feeling derived from their jungle experience. There is no limit to the possibilities of inspiration that the jungle has to offer to an artist. Artists will be provided with daily open studio time to work on their selected theme or motif. On the last afternoon in the jungle, artists will celebrate by showing their finished work and sharing their creative experience.

Art workshops will be provided daily and will include authentic native artistic techniques, basket weaving, bead making, natural pigment making and more. Art discussions will be encouraged through selected readings and thought provoking subjects. Artists may also choose to share a particular learned technique or skill with the group.

Artists are asked to bring their own basic desired art supplies, including paper, canvas, paints, brushes, and pencils. Please DO NOT BRING OIL PAINT into the jungle. It is toxic and we do not have the facilities to dispose of it safely. Artists may also choose to use found materials to create personal projects.
